Anyone who enjoys the tranquillity of the green spaces around Peterborough Cathedral on a summer afternoon may be interested to know that a guided Precincts Tour will take place this Saturday, 18th June, at 12.00 noon.
The tour not only explores the history of the buildings and open spaces surrounding the Cathedral but also takes visitors into the Victorian Deanery Garden, which is not normally open to the public.
Within the garden is Tout Hill, the remains of a motte and bailey castle built by a Norman abbot in the 11th century to protect the Cathedral against Saxon and Viking attacks.
Guided Precincts Tours are also scheduled for Saturdays 23 July and 20th August, both at 12.00 noon. More details about Precinct Tours.
Tickets are £8 per adult (£6 concessions), accompanied children free of charge.
A special ticket for those who would like to combine the Precincts Tour with the 2.00pm Cathedral Tour, is available at £13 per adult (£10 concessions), accompanied children free.
