It has been announced today that the Dean of Peterborough, the Very Rev'd Charles Taylor, is to retire. His farewell service will be Evensong on Saturday 1st October at 5.30pm.
In making the announcement the Rt Rev'd Donald Allister, Bishop of Peterborough, describes Charles Taylor as “an excellent priest” and “a man of the highest integrity and probity.” He has served as Dean of Peterborough since 2007.
Canon Jonathan Baker will serve as Acting Dean during the forthcoming vacancy, and as required until then.
The Bishop has also announced that he is to hold a formal Bishop’s Visitation at the Cathedral, which has been welcomed by the Dean and Chapter.

In a change from the published announcement, the Dean’s farewell will take place after a special Evensong on Saturday 1st October at 5.30pm. The Dean will preside at the Sunday Eucharist for the last time on 25th September, which will be the 40th anniversary of his Ordination.
