Dinners and Receptions

Whether you are planning a formal business dinner or looking for a stunning location for a reception or special anniversary party, the Cathedral can offer a variety of spaces to suit large and small gatherings.

There are several venues at the Cathedral where formal dinners or more informal receptions can be held, in the Knights' Chamber, Almoner's Hall, the New Building and, for exceptionally prestigious events, the Nave.

The Knights' Chamber

This newly refurbished 13th century room above the archway to the Bishop's Palace can accommodate up to 60 dinner guests, or up to 75-80 reception guests.

Almoner's Hall

Dining in Almoner's Hall

In Almoner's Hall there are two dining rooms. The John Chambers Room is suitable for 10-20 dinner guests and the William Morton Room can seat 8-12 dinner guests. Alternatively the two rooms can be used together and can accommodate approximately 75 reception guests.

The New Building is suitable for up to 120 dinner guests or around 200 reception guests.

The Nave

Dining in the Nave

Exceptionally, for prestigious dinners of between 300-350 guests, the Cathedral Nave may be used.
