Recent first class music graduate, Leilani Barratt will sing a programme including Schumann "Frauenliebe und Leben"
- Frauenliebe und Leben (A Women's Life and Love)
- A short Spanish song cycle by Rodrigo
- Three French operatic arias
Leilani is a British Mezzo Soprano currently based in the East Midlands. She recently graduated with a First Class Honours in Music from Royal Holloway College, University of London, where she was a choral scholar in the esteemed Chapel Choir of Royal Holloway and with whom she toured Europe widely and recorded solos for Hyperion Records. In her final year, she was awarded the Dame Felicity Lott Bursary to continue her singing tuition and she now studies privately with mezzo soprano Sally Burgess.
Now working both as a choral singer and soloist, Leilani sings professionally with the choirs at Peterborough Cathedral and Saint Bartholomew the Great, West Smithfield, as well as giving recitals across the East Midlands. In March 2016, she was the winner of the Courtney Kenny Award Competition held by the AESS at Tonbridge School, Kent, where she perfomed a “well chosen and heart-wrenching” programme of English Song. Most recently, she performed Berlioz’s Les Nuits d’été in a recital of French song, and will be performing Schumann’s Frauenliebe und leben in a lunctime recital at Peterborough Cathedral in August 2016
